Background

Gaia Lingua consists of me, Marieke, freelance translator. I started my translation career back in 2014, after my Master’s in English Language & Culture – and a decent portion of Scandinavian Languages & Cultures and Translation Studies. I’ve worked for a large translation company for about a year, where I was taught the ins and outs of the job and where I could specialize in medical translation. I’ve since then continued my work as a freelancer, translating many different texts every day.

Meanwhile, on a personal level, I encountered the world of Permaculture. This design system for permanent (agri) culture is a constant source of inspiration for a cleaner, better and more sustainable world: From food forests, agro-ecology, and clean energy to sustainable building. In short: Everything that will make our Gaia a better place to live. My Permaculture Design Course was a stepping stone into these topics and I've not stopped learning since. I'm particularly interested in agro-ecology and community supported agriculture, and have gotten my hands dirty in many gardens and fields.
